The primary purpose of the Builders Association of Hickory and Catawba Valley is to promote home ownership and the improvement of the residential building industry in the Catawba Valley and surrounding areas. We are a non-profit trade organization comprised of home builders, light commercial builders and associate members, including suppliers, subcontractors, lenders, manufacturers, utilities, realtors and architects. We are associated with the North Carolina Home Builders Association (NCHBA) and the National Home Builders Association (NAHB). The primary objective of these groups is to advocate for legislation that promotes residential construction and home ownership. This is done by the local association at the city and county level, by the state associations at the state level, and by the national association at the federal level. Communication with our law-makers at every level would be impossible for any small business. But, through these associations, not only can we know what is being proposed but we can express our opinions and ideas! The Home Builders Association lobby is one of the largest lobby groups in the nation. Home ownership and adequate, affordable housing are as basic to our society as clean water and adequate food supply. There are other benefits but this is the primary function of the Home Builders Association.
